Vivah Sanskar

Marriage is one of the 16 sacred rituals (sanskar) of vedic culture. Arya Samaj perform marriages in order to fight social evils like casteism, dowry, superstition, etc. Marriage ceremony is performed by a Shastri following the ritual of Saptapadi. Provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act are strictly followed while performing marriages. it is ensured that the age of the girl is not less than 18 years and the boy is 21 years of age. Both of them must be Hindus and should be of sound mind. The marriage should be free from any fear, threat, coercion, or undue influence. There should not be unreasonable difference between their ages. witnesses of both the parties must remain present. Aim of Arya Samaj Temples is not to earn money by performing marriages but to propagate vedic dharma and to fight the social evils. However, unfortunately, some persons have opened shops in the name of Arya Samaj and deceptively similar names where marriages are performed solely for commercial reasons.
